Your gift will support Dunbar’s drug prevention efforts. Our seminar Preparing for the Drug-Free Years is geared to the parents and families of the most at-risk youth – those from 4th through 8th grade. It teaches them how to strengthen family ties, present a united front in the war on drugs and how to teach their children the art of saying and living “No!” An adapted version is also available for the youth leaders who work with and influence our children every day.

It is not enough, however, to teach our youngsters how to say “no”; we must also provide them with alternatives to drug usage that will capture both their minds and spirits. Your gift will help to strengthen our youth programming. Our goal is to provide a safe, supervised place for youth to gather and visit old friends and make new ones, find a socially acceptable mentor and role model, discover new talents and get help improving academic skills. By helping Dunbar meet these goals you are helping to improve the quality of life for everyone in Butler.

Preparing for the Drug-Free Years is presented throughout the year to groups and individuals by appointment.
